Putting Secrets

by Shawn Clement

Let the arms and the putter hang below the shoulders. Strike the golf ball at the bottom of the arc of the swing. Don’t snap the wrists. Increase the length of the arc as you increase the distance to the cup. Don’t put more force into the swing, simply swing in a larger arc. That is, take the putter back farther and putt through the ball farther. When aiming, line up the lettering on the ball in the direction you want to go. Step back 10 feet to judge if the writing is pointing exactly in the direction you want to shoot. Never trust your alignment when you are standing over the ball. Your eyes are crooked in that position.
